INFORMATION ON HOW TO DO WRITE-INs

  • FEDERAL INFO ON "WRITE-IN" CANDIDATES  &  EAC REPORT

  • If it’s on a mail-in or absentee ballot, the voter must be sure to fill in the oval for that Write-In vote, and then write in the name of the candidate using clear handwriting.

  • If it’s on the machine, instructions are found here: https://vote.phila.gov/new-voting-system/ (video auto-plays, but can also be found on the Usage page on that site), jump to about 1:10 for the write-in explanation.

    Other than that…

    1. Touch the Write-In button for the office in which you’ve chosen to write in a candidate.

    2. Use the on-screen keyboard to type the name of your candidate. Include spaces between first and last name, and avoid just using someone’s initials.

    3. Touch the Accept button in the bottom-right corner of the keyboard when done.

    4. Remember – Your vote won’t be counted until you print and cast your ballot.
