INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITE-INs

On Provisional Ballot or Mail-In Ballot:

1) Touch the “Write-In” button for the office in which you have chosen to write-in a candidate.

1) Find the “Write-In” box for the office in which you have chosen to write-in a candidate.

2) Use the on-screen keyboard to type the name of your candidate. Include spaces between first and last name. Do not use initials or nicknames.

2) Fill in the oval and then write-in the name of your candidate. Do not use initials or nicknames.

3) Touch the “Accept” button on the bottom-right corner of the keyboard when done, then the “Write-In” box will turn green.

3) Follow the other instructions for casting a Provisional Ballot. Ensure you have signed the outer envelope twice in the correct locations.

4) Touch the “Vote” button under the ballot and then when you look at the printed ballot, you will see the names of the candidates you have selected and/or written-in. 

4) Seal the ballot in the secrecy envelope and the outer envelope. If completing a Mail-In Ballot, make sure to sign and date the outer envelope.

5) If the names are correct, then touch the “Vote” button again to cast your vote. The paper will disappear into the machine. Remember, your vote will not be counted until you print and cast your ballot.

5) Hand the Provisional Ballot envelope to the election official and they will give you a receipt. Return your Mail-In Ballot using a PO mail box or drop box. Under PA law your ballot must be received by election day.
